The journey

Gaurav Katta’s journey did not begin with his label opening in 2012, but rather from the generations that came before him. The third generation to a large textile manufacturer in India, Gaurav grew up completely engulfed in the world of textile. As his family’s journey began before the partition of India, they were intimately associated with all the changes in the textile manufacturing and fashion trends. He has seen crafts come close to the brink of extinction through the use of mechanical alternatives, seen communities belittled and regions lose their income. He has seen the fashion of the West flourish, while the design of India suppressed and diminished. With the intricate knowledge of design, craftsmanship and heritage coursing through his veins, Gaurav Katta kindled the embers of the dying crafts and design ethics. By placing them in a medium so closely observed by the world, he makes sure that India touches your heart through every elegant attire.
